How It Works

Create an account and get started right away.
Tell us about yourself, your feelings and your situation, so that your therapist can understand you better.
After you create and verify your secure account, you’ll start your first session – a full MindBeacon Assessment.
You will complete an online assessment that takes about 30 minutes and can be completed on your own time, anywhere.
There is also a diagnostic option available - your assessment results are reviewed by a clinical psychologist and discussed during a one-on-one phone call. You will also receive a psychological diagnosis report that you can share with your healthcare provider. The cost to add this option is $300*.
*This cost is non-refundable. If it is deemed by a therapist that MindBeacon is not suitable for your needs, the cost may still be claimed under your benefits plan.

A therapist creates a plan designed just for you.
Through secure direct messages, readings and activities, your therapist will help you develop the skills you need to thrive.
A therapist will take the time to personally review your assessment. (This can take 3 to 5 business days, depending on volumes.)
If our program is a good fit for your unique needs, you will be matched with the therapist best suited to create your personalized treatment plan.
If our program is not appropriate, they will suggest other resources for you to contact.

Complete your personalized program in 6 to 12 weeks.
Work one-on-one with your dedicated therapist for up to 12 weeks and access your resources for up to 1 year.
Our program offers 12 weeks of guided treatment with a therapist. Most people complete their course of treatment in 6 to 10 weeks.
Your therapist will respond to your messages and check in with you every few days.
Once you reach 12 weeks of treatment, you will still be able to access your materials (readings, worksheets and more) for an additional 40 weeks.

Thought records are designed to help you develop more helpful and accurate ways of thinking. Once you have caught some of your negative automatic thoughts, you can practice thinking in fair and balanced ways. With practice, thinking differently can become second nature.
We encourage you to complete a thought record whenever you:

The best time to complete a thought record is right after you notice a change in how you are feeling. Writing it down quickly ensures that it’s still fresh in your mind. Don’t worry if you can’t complete a thought record straight away – but when you do complete it, make sure to imagine the incident clearly in your mind to recall as many details as possible.

Guided CBT Programs plus Insights
Your Guided CBT Program Assessment results are reviewed by clinical psychologist and discussed with you during a one-on-one phone call for a cost of $225. You will also receive a psychological diagnosis report you can share with your healthcare provider for a cost of $125. The cost to add the plus Insights option is a total of $350*.
*This cost is non-refundable. If it is deemed by a therapist that MindBeacon is not suitable for your needs, the cost may still be eligible under your benefits plan.
**By agreeing to the psychologist call, you also agree to the cost of the report. Additionally, if the clinical psychologist (or equivalent) determines that MindBeacon is not suitable for your needs, the cost of the call and report are non-refundable. Both costs may still be eligible under your benefits plan.
Using Your Benefits Plan for the Guided CBT Program
Following your assessment, you will be prompted for payment. MindBeacon may be eligible as an expense under your Industrial Alliance, Manulife or Medavie Blue Cross health plan for you and your eligible dependents (age 16 and over). Please review your plan for more information on coverage.

What's a Therapist Guided Program?
MindBeacon's Therapist Guided Program is based in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).
With more than 40 years of research and practice, CBT is an excellent long-term solution for those suffering from mood and anxiety disorders.
It’s a skills-building approach to therapy, helping you develop resiliency and coping skills to better manage your mental health concerns. It consists of readings, exercises and activities that will help you learn and practice those new skills.

What questions do you have?
MindBeacon's Therapist Guided programs are available to all Canadians, age 16 years or older.
MindBeacon can help you tackle a wide range of issues, including depression, anxiety, panic, PTSD, stress and many other concerns that impact your wellbeing.
But MindBeacon IS NOT a crisis service. If you’re ever in crisis, please phone ‘911’ immediately or visit your nearest hospital emergency room. Your safety is absolutely the most important thing to us.
Why do we call it a 'program'? Good question.
Mainly because it has a start and end date. A typical MindBeacon Therapist Guided Program lasts about 8 to 12 weeks - so you know what you're committing to.
During the entire 12 week program, you will have one-on-one access to a licensed therapist, but instead of making appointments to talk to them, you'll be sending them direct messages through the secure platform, and they'll get back to you in a few days.
We also use the term program because your therapist will guide you through readings and activities that you complete on your own. Think about them as your own personal curator of mental health resources, finding the ones best suited to your needs.
Yes – you get your own therapist, who will be dedicated to you throughout your care, and who will tailor your program from start to finish.
And you can send them a message at any time - whenever you have a thought or an issue you'd like to discuss. There's no need to "save up" all your thoughts for a monthly or weekly session, or worry about forgetting about what it was you wanted to talk about.
Your therapist will get back to you within 2 business days.
Every Therapist Guided Program is personalized and unique. Your therapist will provide a tailored and progressive set of readings and activities for you over the course of your therapy – things like learning relaxation and worry management techniques, exposure activities or thought records.
The main goal for all these activities is to reflect on what you’re thinking, doing and feeling and learning more positive skills.
Many people wonder why we collect information such as an address (considering this is an online service) and things such as an emergency contact.
Two reasons. First, we require this information in order to ensure your safety in case of an emergency. But we also require this information so that we can match you with a therapist in your area.
Every question in our assessment, has a very specific purpose in ensuring you get the best care possible. We actually have one of the most comprehensive assessments in the industry because of this.
Your interactions with MindBeacon are protected health information and confidential.
Your employer or benefits provider may only receive non-personal aggregate information, such as number of users or average satisfaction ratings.
